Families that get SNAP benefits receive them monthly. They can spend these benefits like cash at stores that accept them. These benefits are given using an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card

If you're eligible, the government will set up an account for you and deposit your benefits automatically.

Income Limits for SNAP

To be eligible for SNAP, your family's income has to be below certain amounts. These differ based on the size of your family.

For a family of six, the maximum yearly income is $62,940. Here's the breakdown:

  • 1 person: $22,596
  • 2 people: $30,660
  • 3 people: $38,736
  • 4 people: $46,800
  • 5 people: $54,876
  • 6 people: $62,940

For families larger than eight, you add $8,076 for each extra person. If your income fits these guidelines, you might qualify for SNAP, although it's not guaranteed.

Benefits for a Family of Six

The amount of SNAP benefits you get depends on your family size and needs. For a household of six, the monthly support is $1,390.

This amount changes based on the number of people in your family:

  • 1 person: $292
  • 2 people: $536
  • 3 people: $768
  • 4 people: $975
  • 5 people: $1,158
  • 6 people: $1,390

And if your family is bigger, $220 is added for each additional person.
